Youth Pilgrims for the maiden Youth pilgrimage to Israel departed the shores of Nigeria on 25th July, 2015, for Israel to begin a journey of seven nights and eight days in the Holy Land.
Youth pilgrimage being the first to be organized by the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, is structured in such a way that the youths aside the rich spiritual content of the exercise, they will also be exposed to the skill acquisition aspect of the programme.
At every Holy Site visited by the youths in Israel, they were seen praying earnestly for the progress and peace of Nigeria.
The Leader of the maiden youth pilgrimage to Israel, Pastor Good Heart Ekwueme , had the opportunity of baptising about 40 youths at Jordan River where Christ was baptised by John the
Baptist thousand year's ago. Most of the youths baptized by the Spiritual Leader included Americans and other nationals.
At River Jordan, Pastor Ekwueme commended the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission for initiating the maiden youth pilgrimage and for choosing him as the Leader of the first edition. He stressed that the youth pilgrimage is a good avenue for bringing youths to God and also enrich their sense of historical data.
So far, the youth pilgrims had visited quite a number of Holy Sites in Israel such as River Jordan, the Sea of Galilee, Mountain of Temptation in Jericho, the Wailing Wall, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Holocaust History Museum, etc. Some of the youths interviewed were optimistic that the experience of the youth pilgrimage would remain memorable in their lives.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission flagged off the orientation programme of the Skill Acquisition for youth pilgrims in Jerusalem, Israel on 29th, July, 2015. The Skill Acquisition programme of NCPC is in collaboration with the Institute of National Transformation and the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture, aimed at empowering the youths on how to be self reliant.
