He made this assertion during a sensitization visit paid by the later and his Management staff to Government House, Illorin, Kwara State.

Speaking at the event, Governor Abdulfatah described the scheme as a welcomed development, adding that it would further empower the youths with much skills, particularly in the area of Agriculture which would enable them become financially independent, considering the present state of our economy.

He further commended the Commission’s pilgrimage packages among which are the Family pilgrimage, Easter pilgrimage, Youth pilgrimage, October/ December pilgrimage, and most especially the Lottery scheme. Earlier, the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara, commended the Governor on his giant strides in the state, especially in the area of agriculture, power and transportation through which he has ensured maximum welfare of Kwara citizens.

He intimated that the commission runs four pilgrimage packages in one calendar year. He explained that the maiden youth pilgrimage programme has kick started; airlifting the first batch of Christian youths to Israel on 25th of July, on pilgrimage. He added that he would be joining them soon to witness the skill acquisition programme.

Mr. Opara affirmed that the Commission is using pilgrimage as a tool for moral transformation and spiritual rebirth, stating that those who embark on pilgrimage would experience divine encounter which would influence their lives, transform them, and make them agents of change in Nigeria.

He further affirmed that due to the self sustenance drive of the commission, NCPC is presently partnering with the National Lottery Commission to promote Christian pilgrimage participation, which would avail every Christian the opportunity of going on pilgrimage with little or no cost.

He appealed to the Governor to encourage Christians in the state to participate in the Lottery scheme. In his words, “We want you to be our mouth piece to educate individuals in the state.”
