NCPC TO FLAG OFF 2015 EASTER PILGRIMAGE EXERCISE ON 1ST MARCH 2015

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission will commence the 2015 Easter Pilgrimage Exercise to Israel, Rome and Greece on 1ST March.

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission will commence the 2015 Easter Pilgrimage Exercise to Israel, Rome and Greece on 1ST March.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mr. John Kennedy Opara disclosed this in Abuja during a meeting with the Chairmen and Secretaries of some state Christian Pilgrim Welfare Boards in Abuja who are yet to airlift their pilgrims to the Holy Land.

He emphasized that the goal of NCPC is to make pilgrimage a source of joy for pilgrims as it is being used as a tool for moral and Spiritual Transformation.

Mr. Opara further revealed that the Commission would introduce some new innovations in this year’s pilgrimage exercise as the Commission plans to run a four pilgrimage programme this year.

The NCPC helmsman also informed the stakeholders that the Commission would commence the youth pilgrimage programme to Israel this year and is determined to partner with the National Lottery Regulatory Commission this year to promote pilgrimage lottery in order to give room for more Christians to embark on Holy Pilgrimage. He stressed that lot is biblical and should be encouraged.

Mr. Opara also hinted that the Commission would collaborate with the Galilee and Hebrew Universities in Israel for Leadership Programme for pilgrims during pilgrimage.

The No1 Pilgrim Officer of the Federation also tasked the state Chairmen and Secretaries of the CPWBs to encourage self sponsorship of pilgrims to Israel in their various states.

He posited that the era of depending solely on government sponsorship was over.

Some of the states expected to airlift pilgrims during the Easter Pilgrimage exercise this year are: Bauchi, Niger, Kaduna, Adamawa, Taraba and Anambara, e.t.c.
