NCPC BOSS COMMENDS SENATOR BALA MOHAMMED FOR HIS SUPPORT FOR CHRISTIAN PILGRIMAGE

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Mr John Kennedy Opara, has commended the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed for his support for Christian pilgrimage in Nigeria. The NCPC boss stated this in Abuja when he led his Federal Commissioners on a sensitization visit to FCT.

In the words of John Kennedy Opara, “we have come to appreciate you as part of our sensitization visit, to say a very big thank you for supporting us”. He added, “you have always displayed great love and commitment to the Christian faith”.

Mr. Opara further affirmed: “for us in NCPC, our success story will be incomplete without mentioning you”.

The NCPC boss particularly thanked the Hon. Minister for the large expanse of land the FCT Administration graciously gave to the Commission at the high brawl area in the Central Business District of Abuja for the building of permanent pilgrim’s headquarters.

He further stated that God brought the minister to oversee FCT at a time like this in order to stabilize the territory.

Mr Opara equally commended President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for signing the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) last year with the State of Israel. According to him, “with this, your pilgrims can fly to Israel directly”.

He intimated his host that the Commission had allocated 2000 seats to FCT for this year’s October - December pilgrimage.

 He further informed the Minister that the Commission now has three pilgrimage programmes: Easter pilgrimage, usually held between March and April, Family pilgrimage- July-August, and the main pilgrimage which is usually held between October to December every year. On the issue of family pilgrimage, the NCPC boss urged the Minister to use his good offices to continue to partner with the Commission and to appeal to families to go on Holy pilgrimage.

In his response, Senator Bala Mohammed commended the NCPC boss for the visibility he has brought to bear in Christian pilgrimage in Nigeria. He described pilgrimage as a spiritual Tourism which should be taken seriously.

Senator Bala affirmed that his administration has been able to establish collaboration and fusion between the two religions in FCT. He promised to ensure and sustain a bench mark that would stand FCT pilgrims out from others by providing the needed welfare and support at all times.

He further commended Mr. President for signing BASA with Israel, which according to him would reduce the problems associated with delays usually experienced by pilgrims.

He assured the NCPC boss that the 2000 slots alloted to FCT by NCPC would be realized. According to him, “Please be rest assured that we are ready to partner with you”.

In her remarks, the FCT Minister of State, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, further commended the NCPC boss for the good work he is doing in NCPC.

She equally commended the leadership of FCT Christian Pilgrim Welfare Boards for their unrelenting efforts at ensuring that FCT pilgrims remain the best.

She thanked the FCT Minister for promising to sponsor more pilgrims this year.
