The Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC held its first prayer thanksgiving service of the year on Friday, 19th January, 2024 at the Commission's chapel in Abuja.
Speaking at the Thanksgiving service, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam said the theme of the prayer service was thanksgiving, focusing on the soul that gives thanks.
His exhortation was taken from the book of Psalms Chapter 103 verses 1-4.
The NCPC boss commended the efforts of the staff of the Commission, describing them "as the best".
He enjoined theme to be more diligent and committed to their work, especially as the Commission prepares for the 2023/2024 Main Pilgrimage exercise to Rome and Greece.
He affirmed that the Commission's Pilgrimage exercise to Rome and Greece is on course as such the Commission is collaborating with the Italian Consulate in Lagos for visa procurement for intending pilgrims.
He explained that he met with the Consul General of Italy in Lagos recently with some of the Management staff on how to achieve a seamless visa procurement process for intending pilgrims.
He admitted that the Consul General assured of a quick and fast visa proceses for the large number of intending pilgrims.
Rev Pam hinted that the Commission would make use of experienced staff for the screening of intending pilgrims in the up coming Rome and Greece Pilgrimage exercise. According to him, "we will use the older hands in the screening of intending pilgrims to avoid casualties".
The NCPC boss disclosed that the essence of the thanksgiving prayer was to thank God for helping the Commission to weather its storms last year.
