The Nigeria Ambassador to Greece, His Excellency, Ayodeji Ayodele has commended the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, John Kennedy Opara for how he has been able to use Pilgrimage to positively impact on Nigerian pilgrims in terms of adding values to their lives through his innovative ideas.

He made this commendation while receiving the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Mr. John Kennedy Opara, Members of Board of NCPC and the Chairmen and Secretaries of the State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Boards (CPWB) during the State of Readiness Visit to Israel for the 2015 October/December pilgrimage exercise.

He explained that Nigeria is a nation presently undergoing a process of recovery and to achieve a change, all hands must be on the deck.

He reinstated the need for everyone to be closer to his creator and live a life of dignity. He urged NCPC to continually play the role of conveying the message of change to other Nigerians.

In his response, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), John Kennedy Opara, thanked the Ambassador for the warm reception accorded him and his management team. He commended him for his rare style of leadership, passion, commitment and love for the nation.

Mr. Opara affirmed that the Commission uses pilgrimage as a tool for moral transformation and spiritual rebirth.

He informed that as a step towards achieving self sustenance by the Commission, it is partnering with the National Lottery Regulatory Commission to introduce Christian Pilgrimage Lottery Scheme this year, which would afford Christians the opportunity to embark on pilgrimage with little or no cost. He reiterated that the Commission had already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the NLRC in this regard.

He further hinted that the Commission has included skill acquisition programme to the pilgrims' activities in the Holy Land to ensure that youths become skillful and be able to find a source of income that would sustain themselves and their families when they return back to Nigeria.
