The formal signing ceremony took place recently at the NCPC Headquarters Abuja. Though Atlas Jet formally signed their agreement, TAT is expected to sign theirs at a later date. Another airline, Onur air would be on standby.

In his remarks at the event, the Chairman of the NCPC Board, the Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh charged the two selected Air carriers to be courteous in dealing with the pilgrims “we expect highest courtesy for our Pilgrims”, “we expect commitment and you should treat our pilgrims with respect”.

He tasked them to be transparent in their dealings with the Commission because according to him, “we will ensure that things are done rightly”. He further charged the Air carriers on quality service delivery. In his words, “ensure that you give our pilgrims the best”.

In his own remarks, the Executive Secretary of NCPC, Mr. John Kennedy Opara charged the two Air Carriers already approved by Mr. President to airlift Nigerian Christian Pilgrims to the Holy Land this year to live up to expectations in the discharge of this assignment.

Mr. Opara further charged them to take this assignment seriously, because according to him, “the welfare of our pilgrims is paramount to us”. He added that the Commission will ensure that Christian pilgrims get maximum safety and comfort. He affirmed, “we will not compromise our standards”.

The No 1 Pilgrim Officer of the Federation intimated that the Commission has included local content into pilgrimage exercise by ensuring that indigenous Airlines participate in this year’s pilgrimage exercise in order to locally improve the economy of Nigeria. He further informed the Air Carriers that the 2014 pilgrimage exercise will commence on 26th October, 2014.

In his response, the representative of the Atlasjet Airline Mr. Ecrument Filiz, an Executive Director in the company expressed confidence in his Airline and promised that his Company is ready to give the Nigerian Christian pilgrims the best comfort and safety to make 2014 pilgrimage exercise a wonderful experience

The signing of Air Carrier Agreement was witnessed by NCPC Federal Commissioners, Management Staff and Stakeholders.
