The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), plans to introduce online medical examination in the selection
The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), plans to introduce online medical examination in the selection of Federal Medical Team. The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mr. John Kennedy Opara disclosed this in Abuja while receiving the report of the Federal Medical Committee for the 2014 Christian Pilgrimage to Israel.
Mr. Opara emphasized the need for the Federal Medical Committee to strive for excellence and perfection in carrying out their medical assignment. He explained that with online medical examination, medical personnel from all parts of the country do not need to converge in Abuja to sit for the medical examination.
He further explained that this innovation would add to the credibility and transparency of the examination which would be conducted online within one hour and the result would be made available online for the candidates without delay.
In the words of the NCPC boss: “it has always been my desire that our medical examinations will be of the highest standard and in line with global practices”. He further added, “we must continuously make deliberate effort to improve on what we are doing”.
He told the Federal Medical Committee that their assignment is a soul winning one and as such they were expected to touch lives. According to him: “as long as one lives, you must bear fruits”.
Mr. Opara also hinted that the commission would establish an In- House Clinic to be used by staff which would also serve as secretariat for the Federal Medical Committee.
He promised to transform the pilgrims insurance cover with a view to making it more functional and beneficial.
Earlier, the chairman of the Federal Medical committee, Dr. Joseph Ahmedu thanked the NCPC boss for the opportunity to serve.
He expressed joy and satisfaction with the progress made by the committee in last year’s pilgrimage exercise, especially the fact that the Committee recorded zero mortality and very minimal morbidity.
Dr. Ahmedu canvassed that the Federal Medical Committee should be seen as part of a unit of the commission rather than adhoc.
He commended the Executive Secretary for the renovation of the Commission’s Clinic at the Nigerian Embassy in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
He decried the lack of sufficient number of state medical Team members during pilgrimage exercise to complement the effort of the federal Medical Committee.
The Executive Secretary having received the report of the Committee, formally dissolved it, promising to reconstitute a brand new committee that would give other qualified medical personnel the opportunity to serve.
The online medical examination for the Federal Medical Team is highly commendable and hope it will commence soon in the shortest time possible. I am highly impressed with the innovative ideas and wisdom that has characterized the commission under the leadership of Mr OKpara. More of Gods wisdom and uncommon ideas that will move the commision forward IJN
