NCPC OPENS BID FOR AIR CARRIERS AND GROUND HANDLERS FOR 2015 PILGRIMAGE EXERCISE

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), held its bid opening for Air Carriers and Ground Handlers who submitted bid proposal to participate in the 2015 Christian Pilgrimage exercise at NCPC Corporate headquarters Abuja. 

Speaking during the bid opening, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara said that the Commission is determined to leave a legacy of excellent services   to Nigerian Pilgrims through a transparent process for the selection of Air Carriers and Ground Handlers for the 2015 pilgrimage exercise to Israel, Rome and Greece.

The NCPC boss emphasized that in this year’s selection of Ground Handlers and Air Carriers, there would be strict adherence to international best practices to ensure that the pilgrims get excellent and efficient services.

He further emphasized that the Commission’s standard of selection is in line with the 2007 Public Procurement Act (PPA), adding that the standards of the Commission would not be compromised.

The Executive Secretary promised bidders that the Commission would do everything humanly possible to follow due process.  In his words, “I want to assure you all that there is no preferential treatment for any bidder”.

He assured bidders that the Commission would maintain transparency and integrity in the process of selecting Ground Handlers and Air Carriers in this year’s pilgrimage exercise.

In his own remarks, the Chairman of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission who is also the Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh charged the bidders to be good shepherd to Nigerian Pilgrims.

He admonished them to show the Pilgrims love while rendering their services to them.

In the 2015 bid opening, 9 Ground Handlers participated in the bidding exercise, 6 were successful in the technical evaluation while 3 did not qualify. Two Air Carriers also bided in the exercise and the Air Carriers are yet to be selected.

The Members of the Technical Evaluation Committee would proceed to evaluate the financial bid of the 6 Ground Handlers that succeeded in the technical phase.

In another development, the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission Mr. John Kennedy Opara unveiled the maiden edition of “The Nigerian Pilgrim” Magazine.  “The Nigerian Pilgrim” magazine is a 97 pages quarterly magazine published by the Media Unit of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission.

The Executive Secretary said that the magazine would serve as a tool for disseminating the activities of the Commission to its Stakeholders and the general public.
