NCPC BOSS CHARGES THE CHURCH TO INVEST IN PILGRIMAGE

The Executive Secretary of Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Tor Uja has charged the Church to invest in pilgrimage. He made this known in Abuja at a Convocation for Pastors and Church Leaders in and around Abuja. His words: “I would like the Church to begin to invest in pilgrimage”.

He explained that time has come when we should stop depending on government. According to him: “we only need proper advocacy to reach out to Christians”.

Rev. Uja stated that it is possible to make pilgrimage to do something mighty for this country, adding that if the Church shifts this nation, it will certainly be shifted.

He explained that one of the ways the church could invest in pilgrimage is by personal experience in pilgrimage and that the Pastors and Church leaders should pray for God to enlarge their coast.

He informed that the Commission was making efforts to simplify its operations, especially with regards to financial transactions. To this end, he called on Christians to take advantage of the instalmental payment arrangement of the Commission to pay and plan for their pilgrimages. His words: “any money paid into NCPC account is safe”.

The NCPC boss hinted that the Commission was setting up a template that would enable any pilgrimage process to be done within a time frame.

He admonished every Church to set up Christian Pilgrimage Operators (CPO’s) which would be fully registered with the Commission.

He posited that every state should have a registered CPO’s so as to be part of the pilgrimage process. He described the CPO’s as “a Spiritual Ministry and a profitable venture”.

Rev. Uja also revealed that the Commission would set up pilgrimage action Committees across the States and would be involved in policy formation and other critical needs of the Commission.

He disclosed that the Commission would organize Church leaders pilgrimage to Israel in 2018. He explained that such specialized pilgrimage would afford the General Overseers and Key Church Leaders the opportunity to interact and rob minds together on how pilgrimage can be better managed as well as the involvement of the Church.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of NCPC, Most Rev. Nicholas D. Okoh stressed the need for the Church Leaders in Nigeria to own pilgrimage and invest in it. In his words: “pilgrimage has no father and mother, NCPC is only meant to coordinate the pilgrimage process”.

He encouraged the Church in Nigeria to work in unity and channel their resources to promote the work of God.

The one day Pastors and Church Leaders Convocation was focused on “The Church, Pilgrimage and The Future of Nigeria”.
