The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara has enjoined the last batch of intending Pilgrims to Israel to see themselves as value changers. He disclosed this recently at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja while addressing the last batch of Niger Pilgrims to Israel. In the words of the NCPC boss:“we must see ourselves as value changers”. He advised them to ensure that they use the experiences they would gain from Pilgrimage to touch other lives positively.

Mr. Opara further admonished them to be good ambassadors of Nigeria while in the Holy Land, as they are the first image the outside world would see.

He stated that the fact that Mr. President was in Israel last year and Rome this year was an indication that the whole world now appreciates the fact that Nigeria is a serious religious nation. Consequently, he advised the Pilgrims not to let the country down in their conduct in the Holy Land.

Mr. Opara further advised them to shun abscondment because Israel would not hesitate to deport any Pilgrim back to Nigeria if found wanting. He stressed that there was nothing wrong with Nigeria that cannot be fixed with what is right. He affirmed that the Commission would continue to use pilgrimage to change life.

He assured the Pilgrims that the Commission had put every necessary arrangement in place with the Ground Handles in Israel to ensure that they are comfortable.

Mr. Opara enjoined them to pray for Mr. President while in Israel and also for the peace of the country.

He commended the Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Babangida Aliyu for his continued sponsorship of Pilgrims. He equally tasked the private sponsors to cash in on the pilgrimage to have a lasting encounter with God in the Holy Land.

The third edition of the Easter Pilgrimage Exercise was flagged off on 1st March 2014 at the Akanu, Ibiam International Airport, Enugu and by 12th of April 2014 it is expected that all the Pilgrims would have returned to the country.

About 189 intending Pilgrims comprising Niger Pilgrims and Bayelsa Pilgrims made up the last batch of Pilgrims to Israel.

The highlight of the official closing ceremony of the 2014 Easter Pilgrimage Exercise was a prayer session with the Pilgrims led by the NCPC boss.
