GOVERNOR MUKHTAR YERO FLAGS OFF MAIDEN AIRLIFT OF INTENDING PILGRIMS FROM KADUNA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

NCPC AIRLIFT CEREMONY OF INTENDING PILGRIMS FROM KADUNA STATE

The Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero recently flagged off the maiden airlift of intending Christian pilgrims of Kaduna State from Kaduna International Airport. The elated Governor thanked God for making it possible for the intending Christian pilgrims from Kaduna State to be airlifted from Kaduna International Airport for the first time.

Governor Yero thanked the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara for making good his promise to airlift intending Christian pilgrims of the state from the Kaduna International Airport for the first time.

The Governor urged all the officials handling the welfare of the pilgrims not to compromise on their safety and general well being during their pilgrimage exercise in the Holy Land.

He further admonished the intending pilgrims to be good Ambassadors of the state. He added that the state government would not tolerate any incidence of defection by the state pilgrims.

Governor Yero also congratulated them for the privilege of embarking on what he called, “this divine call”.

In his address at the event, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC)’ Mr. John Kennedy Opara thanked the Governor for ensuring mutual harmony between Christians and Muslims in the state.

He commended the Governor of Kaduna State for sponsoring a large number of Christians of the state for Holy Pilgrimage this year.

He affirmed that the Commission was using pilgrimage as a tool for moral and spiritual transformation. He added that the Commission introduced a special program in Israel last year, tagged “A DAY WITH JESUS”. He described the program as a special spiritual prayer session which Mr. President actively participated twice. According to him, “each time we gather, our hearts are connected together”.

Mr. Opara charged the intending pilgrims to pray for the success of the 2015 general election. He further advised, “When you go, you will encounter Jesus in a special way”.

He congratulated them for being the first intending pilgrims from the state to be airlifted from the Kaduna International Airport.

Previously, intending Christian pilgrims from Kaduna State were usually airlifted from the Abuja International Airport.

A total of 1149 intending Christian pilgrims from Kaduna State will be airlifted to the Holy Land this year.

Stakeholders including some Federal Commissioners from NCPC as well as management staff of the Commission graced the epoch making event.
