The Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Captain Idris Wada, has said that the State would participate in the youth pilgrimage
The Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Captain Idris Wada, has said that the State would participate in the youth pilgrimage programme organized by the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission to enable the youths benefit from the skill acquisition training which the Commission has introduced in its pilgrimage programme. He disclosed this during a sensitization visit paid by the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara, and his management staff to Kogi State.
In his remarks, the Governor commended the Executive Secretary of NCPC, John Kennedy Opara for his leadership style and innovations which he has brought to bear in the Commission since its inception. In his words, “The changes and innovations you have put in place are highly commendable”. He further commended the lottery scheme of the Commission describing it as a laudable innovation which would lead to the sustainability of pilgrimage activities in Nigeria.
Governor Wada promised to do everything humanly possible to support the activities of the Commission because of its spiritual and attitudinal benefits to the society and the nation at large. He thanked the Executive Secretary for visiting the state and urged him to continually pray for the state.
Speaking earlier, the Executive Secretary of NCPC commended the Governor for the new metro system he is launching that will subsidize the activities of the state government to improve the standard of living for citizens of the State. In his words, “It is a welfare programme that will benefit individuals in the state.”
Mr. Opara informed that the Commission runs four pilgrimage programmes in one calendar year: The Easter pilgrimage, Youth pilgrimage, Family pilgrimage, which is designed to avail families the opportunity of praying together in the Holy Land; and the General pilgrimage usually held between October/ December.
The NCPC boss further disclosed that the Commission is introducing Christian pilgrimage Lottery scheme through which people will be enabled to embark on Pilgrimage with little or no cost. According to him, “this is one of the steps the Commission has taken towards self sustenance.”
He thanked the Governor for sponsoring Christians on Holy Pilgrimage last year in spite of the Challenges of the State and urged him not to relent in his good deeds.
