The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev.Tor Uja has recently been honoured in Makurdi by the Benue Christian Leaders Consultative Forum. The Christian leaders made up of all the five blocks of the Christian Association of Nigeria.(CAN)filed up in their numbers to receive their own, the brand new Executive Secretary of NCPC at  Agan, the former toll gate.
A reception was held in his honour at the Pastoral Center ,Makurdi which was graced by who is who in Benue Christian community .
In his remark at the , the Catholic Bishop of Makurdi diocese ,Bishop Wilfred Anagbe described Rev.Tor Uja as a committed person to the cause of truth and Justice .He admonished him to be confident and courageous and to keep it up. His Lordship advised him to ensure he brings Christian community in Benue state and the entire country into one fold. He commended Uja’s relentless struggle to keep the Christians united .According to the Catholic Bishop, “nothing is too big when you have to pay the reward for peace”. He further described the NCPC boss as “a leader with high sense of judgment”.
Also speaking at the event, the Anglican bishop of Makurdi, Bishop Nathan Inyon thanked Rev.Uja for stabilizing the Pentecostal fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Benue State where he held sway for 10 years.
The Bishop posited that if not for the type of person Rev. Tor Uja is, he might have joined politics long ago having served as a commissioner at the age of 25; but he preferred to serve in the Lord’s vineyard as a missionary. He described the NCPC helmsman as a Leader who would not throw away good advice to the basket,”a very determined and focus leader, the arrow head of Pentecostal movement in Benue “.
In his response, the NCPC boss thanked the church leaders for organizing a wonderful reception in his honour.
He affirmed that the church in Benue had the opportunity to provide leadership in the land and in the nation .He further stated that Benue state had the advantage of being a unique Christian state endowed with agricultural and spiritual strength.
He informed that the commission had developed a leadership training programme in Israel which would enable Christians to acquire skills while on pilgrimage .In his words,” I will like the church in Benue state to be key participants in the skill acquisition programme.” He enjoined them to key into the programme so that Benue state would experience advancement. He equally called on the church in Benue state to be involved in Christian pilgrimage to Israel, Rome and Greece”.

He assured them that his commission would work closely with the church, the political class and corporate bodies in the state and in the nation to advance the cause of pilgrimage in Nigeria.
He explained that the commission runs four pilgrimage programmes in one year, stressing the need for the church to take advantage of these programmes to plan their pilgrimages well before time.
Rev.Uja hinted that the commission would build a frame work that would make youths who embark on holy pilgrimage to become fire for Christ on
their return from pilgrimage.
He advised the church leaders to set up committees on pilgrimage in their various churches and appoint pilgrimage officers that would liaise with the commission on pilgrimage matters.
A dinner in his honour was also organized by the Catholic Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, in Bishop,s house.
