2016 THANKSGIVING/OUTREACH VISIT TO THE IDP CAMP

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) as it is customary at the end of every pilgrimage year considers it meet and proper to return all the glory to God for a successful pilgrimage year. The thanksgiving service is usually rotated among different denominations.

The 2016 thanksgiving service was held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja. The service was graced by who is who in NCPC from the Chairman of NCPC, His Grace, Most Rev. Nicholas. D. Okoh, the Executive Secretary of NCPC, John Kennedy Opara and all the Federal Commissioners as well as management Staff of the Commission.

The Chairman of NCPC described Pilgrimage to Israel as a visual aid for all Christians because, visit to Israel strengthens our faith in God and invoke the sense of reality about the bible and makes it come alive.

 In his short address at the thanksgiving service, the Executive Secretary of NCPC, John Kennedy Opara appreciated the love and support given to the Commission by Christians.

He informed the Catholic faithful that the Commission runs four pilgrimage programme every year which include the Easter pilgrimage - March to April, Youth Pilgrimage - July, Family Pilgrimage - August and of course the main pilgrimage usually held between October to December.

Mr. Opara stressed that the Skill acquisition programme of the Commission is aimed at empowering the youths and pilgrims for self reliance.

The NCPC helmsman further hinted that the Commission had introduced the Christian Pilgrimage Lottery Scheme in order to make pilgrimage affordable to all Christians.

In another development, as part of the thanksgiving service to God for a Successful pilgrimage operation last year, the Executive Secretary, John Kennedy Opara, led Members of Board of the Commission to Visit the Internally Displaced Person’s Camp, in Area one, Durumi, Abuja.

The Executive Secretary in his address encouraged them that God loves them. His Words: “The God that was with you during raining season will still be with you during dry season”. He added, “What you are passing through is only temporary”.

He assured them that by the Grace of God they would return to their respective homes before the end of the year. He admonished them to have faith in God.

Mr. Opara further assured them that President Mohammed Buhari was doing everything possible to make sure everything is over.

The Commission provided five storage water points for the camp which was commissioned by the Executive Secretary. The Commission also provided free medical services for the Displaced persons and also provided food for them.
