2015 CHRISTIAN PILGRIMAGE: NCPC SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH TWO AIRLINES

Preparatory to the 2015 October/December Christian Pilgrimage exercise, the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC)

Preparatory to the 2015 October/December Christian Pilgrimage exercise, the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has formally signed air charter agreement with two airlines that would fly the Nigerian Pilgrims to Israel, Rome and Greece this year.

In his remarks at the event, the Chairman of NCPC, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh tasked the two approved airlines – Atlasjet Nigeria and Airfirst Nigeria to ensure that they provide healthy aircrafts that would be air worthy in every way. In his words “we expect that you will provide airworthy aircrafts in every sense of it, because according to him, the safety of lives of our pilgrims cannot be compromised.”

He further urged them to maintain high standards in the areas of certain human relations and entertainment.

Most Rev. Okoh also charged them to show respectable treatment of Nigerians so they would come back to talk good about their services. According to him, “you should do everything in your power to present the best in the world” he stressed.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, John Kennedy Opara in his address stated that in line with the approval of Mr. President, the Commission would be signing air charter agreement with the Atlajet Nigeria and Airfirst Nigeria for the airlift of Nigeria pilgrims to the Holy Land for the October/December 2015 pilgrimage exercise.

He thanked God most profusely for seven years of hitch free pilgrimage operation without any single incident of air mishap. His words: “This is our 7th year in this operation, we have never had any air mishaps’’.

He stressed that NCPC ensures it provides the best services in line with international standards, thus he demanded that the two approved airlines must provide the best machines to airlift the pilgrims. According to him, “we will not tolerate anything that will undermine the sovereignty of this organization”.

He was optimistic that the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) signed with the State of Israel in 2013 would be activated before the commencement of this year’s pilgrimage operation. His words: “this year we are trusting God that before the commencement of this year’s operation, the activation of BASA would be achieved”.

He further emphasized that the Commission was committed to ensure that it provides the pilgrims with the best in terms of food and entertainment.

In his acceptance speech, the Executive Director of Atlasjet Nigeria, Ercrument Filiz said: “we are very honoured to airlift Nigeria Pilgrims, we will not compromise on our safety and services”.

The Managing Director of Airfirst Nigeria, Engr. Gbolahan Abatan stated that they came together as a team to be part of the airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to the Holy Land this year. He emphasized that the company had been into executive charter and cargo services across Nigeria, West Africa and the whole world.

He promised that his company would do everything possible to ensure that the entire Nigeria pilgrims enjoy their services. His words: By his grace, “this mission will be accomplished”.

Engr. Abatan thanked the Commission for giving them the opportunity to airlift the Nigerian pilgrims for the first time this year.
