The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara has said that the comfort of Nigerian Pilgrims is paramount to the Commission and would ensure that the Pilgrims get quality and efficient services.

He disclosed this recently during the bid opening for Air Carriers and Ground Handlers for the 2014 Christian Pilgrimage Exercise to Israel, Rome and Greece at the NCPC Corporate Headquarters, Abuja. Mr. Opara intimated that this is the first time in the history of the Commission to open the Ground Handlers’ bid here in Nigeria. He stressed that this is to ensure that local content is added to our operation thus strengthening the Nigeria economy.

The NCPC boss assured the bidders that the Commission would do everything humanly possible to follow due process, According to him, “we do not have a special preference for any one”. He further assured that the Commission would conform to International best practices and would provide the necessary environment for fairness, equity, transparency and justice.

In his own remarks, the Chairman of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission who is also the Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh assured the Bidders that the Commission would continue to uphold truth, transparency and fairness, he added that those who would meet the requirements of the Public Procurement Act will be selected to participate in the 2014 Christian Pilgrimage Exercise.

The Senate Committee Chairman on Inter Governmental Affairs, Senator Dahiru Kuta stressed that the bidding exercise would ensure fairness, transparency and Godliness. He urged the Bidders to be honest and transparent because in his words, “the interest of our Pilgrims is very important to us”.

The DEES Investment and Tour Limited, Atlas Jet, TAT Nig Limited and Onur Air Limited participated in the bidding for the Air Carriers, while Keli Tours, Tabar Tours, Tailor Made Tours, Nezeral Limited, Arc. Aviation Support & Cargo Limited, Sunway Tours, Jerusalem T&T and Rubicon Travels & Tours were the Ground Handlers who Bid for the 2014 pilgrimage exercise. The list of successful Air carriers and Ground Handlers would be made public after thorough assessment by members of the Technical Evaluation Committee.
