The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara, while inaugurating the committee on spirituality and counseling as well as Monitoring and Evaluation Committee for 2015 Christian pilgrimage Exercise, described the vision of the Commission as a long life journey with no finishing line.
Speaking to the Members of the Committees, the Executive Secretary reminded them through the scriptures, of God’s demand for them to keep watch over their flock. He explained that the responsibility of the committee is to deliver good services in the area of Monitoring and Evaluation and this; he said, calls for greater character quality, hard work, and consistency.
The NCPC helmsman urged the Committee Members to exhibit good characters so that they will never be found wanting. In his words “ those who monitor can never be found wanting”.
He encouraged them to spend more time with God in prayer, and have faith in Him to carry out the special assignment they have been given. In his words, “only those who have faith in God end well”.
The Executive Secretary emphasized that the spiritual content is paramount in carrying out pilgrimage activities. According to him “without spirituality, pilgrimage is dead”. He added that a good number of pilgrims have appreciated the spiritual content of previous pilgrimage exercises but that this must be maintained and improved on in order to achieve spiritual transformation.
NCPC BOSS charged members of the Committees to look out for things that could be incorporated into the pilgrims’ programmes so that more pilgrims can have remarkable encounters with the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Executive Secretary thanked all members of the Committees for their acceptance and willingness to serve the commission and promised to be supportive at all times.
In response, the Chairman of the committee on spirituality and counseling, Arch Bishop Nemuel Babba, thanked the Executive Secretary for the opportunity to head the committee and as such, he sees himself as an ambassador of Christ and the Commission as well. He promised that he and members of the committee will do their best to ensure that members of the Commission and the pilgrims are more spiritualized.
More so, the Chairman of Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, Mrs. Ughoro Helen, thanked the Executive Secretary for re-electing the committee to take up the responsibility of monitoring Tour guards’ activities. She assured him that they would maximize the best of their knowledge and ability to ensure that success is achieved in 2015 Pilgrimage.
