NCPC SEEKS STRONGER PARTNERSHIP WITH ISRAEL ON AGRICULTURE

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja, has said that the Commission is ready to partner with Israel to improve agriculture and reduce agricultural wastes in the country. He made this statement in his office in Abuja recently while playing host to the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E Guy Feldman.

The NCPC boss affirmed that the Nigerian economy will greatly benefit from the agricultural sector if the sector is fully harnessed and agricultural wastes well managed.

He further requested that visa procurement process for pilgrimage be made easier and less expensive, especially the group visa, stating that the tedious process causes delay in the pilgrimage programmes.

The NCPC helmsman also informed that the Commission would introduce an electronic system of managing pilgrims and pilgrimage process to ensure the success of the pilgrimage programmes. He further stated that a partnership with Israel would help develop the electronic system to verify and document progress in the pilgrimage programmes.

Rev. Uja informed that there would be a prayer convocation on Mount Zion on Sunday, 5th March and it would feature prayers for the quick recovery of the President and prayers for the acting President.

In his remark, the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Guy Feldman stated that he came to strengthen the ties between the two nations. His words: “I came to get the people of Nigeria and the people of Israel closer together.” He also stated that “Nigeria is a blessing because it is endowed with land, water and good climate that Israel doesn’t have”.

He further stated that Nigerian pilgrims should look into the agricultural technologies in Israel and use it to improve the agricultural sector in Nigeria. He stated that the pilgrims are ambassadors of their country and must look for ways to improve their country.
