The Chairman of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh has urged the Chairmen and Secretaries of the State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Boards (SCPWB) to be morally and spiritually transformed in order to make Pilgrimage in Nigeria more impactful and more robust. He disclosed this recently during the Commission’s 2nd meeting for the year with the Conference of States at the NCPC Corporate Headquarters, Abuja. Most Rev Okoh stressed that it was very important for transformation to begin with the Stakeholders because according to him, “that is the only way our pilgrims can be equally transformed”. He charged the Chairmen and Secretaries of the SCPWB to seek the fruit of the Holy Spirit which is Love. His words, “Love is the principal thing”. The NCPC Chairman buttressed that Nigeria was passing through a tunnel, he added that at the end of the tunnel, people will come out with good character and brand new minds. Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Secretary of NCPC, Mr. John Kennedy Opara said that there was need for the Commission and the SCPWB to embark on aggressive sensitization to Churches, General Overseers, Christians Philanthropists and Corporate Bodies to sponsor Christians who are hard working and deserving to go on pilgrimage as a reward for their hard work and commitment, so that pilgrimage in Nigeria could stand without government support. The NCPC Boss urged the Chairmen and Secretaries of the SCPWB to strive and make pilgrimage a Christian reality by remaining steadfast in the things of the Lord, according to him, “the challenges we face are real, but I know that with our commitment, we shall overcome”. He appealed for team spirit and synergy among the States CPWBs, the NCPC Board and the teams. In his words, “ As leaders, we are reminded that systems’ leaders do not share only the present, but a good part of the future as well’’, adding that “’our actions must show love, it must inspire love and above all, love in every area of our endeavour”. The 2nd NCPC meeting with the Conference of States for this year was graced by Most Chairmen and Secretaries of the State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Boards across the states, including FCT. It afforded the participants the opportunity to rob minds with NCPC on how to progressively move pilgrimage forward.
